Orwellianism à la Suisse

Does Switzerland want to remain free — or would it rather end up as a quaint simulation of democracy in a museum?

For a long time, it seemed as if the world had gone mad — with only Switzerland holding its ground. But its reputation as a Gallic, confederate village in the midst of a sea of EU and globalist madness is long gone. Switzerland’s image is in danger — and it has brought this on itself.

There are two main factors contributing to this: the introduction of e-ID in the most minimal way possible and increasing ideologization in all areas, which does not stop at Switzerland.

Where is the self-defense impulse?

What does this combination mean for the future? The problem in Switzerland has always been that there is hardly any democratic drive left. There is still a strong expectation that everything will remain as it is and that Switzerland will ultimately do better than others. But the same thing is happening in Switzerland as in all other so-called democracies: ultimately, it’s about forcing through a specific agenda. Whether that takes two months, two years, or two decades is irrelevant. The main thing is that the result is right in the end. Direct democracy does not change this, but it does earn Switzerland a few sympathy points as the most likable of all democracy simulations.

This is also the case with the e-ID. It failed at the ballot box years ago.

Now it’s back with a different guise. The ratchet effect sends its regards. With the support of a broad front of tech companies, globalists, and foundations, it has now narrowly succeeded in turning a previous no into a narrow yes. Only 50.39% of Swiss voters ultimately voted in favor: barely a handful of cantons — the rest were against it. The courts must now decide whether the vote is valid. There are allegations that state-affiliated companies co-sponsored the campaign, such as Swisscom, which is 51% state-owned.

What remains of Switzerland as an exception? When it comes to data protection, whistleblower protection, and resistance to surveillance, Switzerland has long been a nightmare country. It is a haven for all globalist organizations, from the WHO to CEPI and GAVI. Geneva is the world’s secret service hub. 27 secret services are gathered in the Club de Berne. Politicians are cheerfully pushing ahead with digital surveillance programs: data retention for websites visited, the obligation to disclose metadata, which is forcing companies skeptical of surveillance, such as ProtonMail, to move abroad in some cases.

In contrast, there is great sympathy for Palantir among politicians. The US surveillance company, which collects data from around the world and sells it to governments, has opened a hub in the canton of Schwyz.

What will the future of Switzerland look like? Sovereignty to Brussels, neutrality down the drain, data to Palantir, immunity for Gates & Co. — in return, no information for citizens about Corona from public broadcasters, despite reprimands, AHV funds sent overseas, managed by US hedge funds. What does Switzerland want to be in 20 years? A miniature Switzerland? A Disneyland for rich Chinese? A Sentiero de Selfie for influencers?

And what about organ donation if you don’t have an e-ID? Since 2022, the opt-out solution has been in effect. Organs can be removed unless there is an entry in the register. But if this requires an e-ID (possibly, maybe, we’ll see?), the organs will ultimately end up with the state, where the data already is. Is that still “extractive capitalism” or already “neufeodalism” — or simply humanoid livestock farming?

Turnkey totalitarianism despite direct democracy

What does the individual citizen expect from an e-ID, apart from a little convenience in exchange for their data? And why should things be very different this time than they were with COVID-19? Compulsion and voluntariness were willingly reinterpreted back then. No one would be forced to get vaccinated, they said. But without it, you would have to face the consequences. That is, of course, coercion. But they don’t call it that, because that would be unpleasant. And so the e-ID will always remain voluntary — as long as you break the backbone of the word “voluntary.” Is that still Switzerland? Not for me.

Alongside CBDCs and the potential creation of a profile for every citizen for surveillance, control, and evaluation purposes, the e-ID is part of a larger development toward turnkey totalitarianism. Larry Ellison of Oracle, who is reaching for ever more media power (CNN, CBS, and TikTok), recently summed it up: Ultimately, total surveillance and recording of all citizens’ movements is needed. The e-ID is an important building block. Ultimately, states would then become open-air prisons with permanent surveillance of their inmates — in Switzerland, at least with Heidi flair and the smell of fondue.

Another factor complicates all these voting issues for the future. There is a growing asymmetry between the coalitions of opponents that move independently in each vote and the increasingly concerted, closely cooperating pro-factions of the globalist agenda. It is enough to keep introducing the same proposals over and over again until the defensive impulse of those who oppose them simply wanes at some point, divides, or sinks into trench warfare. It is the asymmetry between those who have infinite resources to further concentrate power and those who are increasingly unable to pool their meager resources to build counterpressure.

Switzerland urgently needs a wake-up call, otherwise it risks falling into the trap of comfortable totalitarianism. What happens to all the data in the end? It is possible to create a precise profile of every person: online behavior, metadata, data retention, biometric ID cards, merging of vaccination records and creditworthiness data. The end result is a social scoring system that already allows people to be categorized. How will dissidents or deviants be treated in the future?

Is Switzerland hearing the wake-up call?

For a long time, Switzerland saw itself as something of an exception. It was part of its image to prioritize diversity over unity, and sometimes to go its own way. What remains of this today? Recently, a Facebook user from Bern was fined 500 francs or sentenced to ten days in prison for posting a comment stating that even the skeletons of LGBTQ people excavated in 200 years’ time will show that there are only two genders, male and female. Anything else is a mental illness that has been promoted by the school curriculum.

This is punishable under Article 261 bis of the Swiss Criminal Code – a provision that punishes racist discrimination. Does criticism of gender ideology now also constitute an offense? The golden calf is gathering its troops — in the media, in government, and in the judiciary. How many will dare to stand up to this combined power of media ideologization, educational brainwashing, and surveillance of every move on the internet?

The lost vote on e-ID should be a necessary wake-up call for Switzerland — more precisely, for the Swiss electorate. At present, all hope rests on the possibility that the result of the vote can be challenged in court, so that the vote must be repeated.

Dear Switzerland: Can you hear this wake-up call — or are you already fast asleep?
