After Kirk's murder: Is sentiment toward Israel shifting in the US?

The assassination of Charlie Kirk is changing the climate of opinion in the US: Is Netanyahu a friend or a master?

The murder of Charlie Kirk has shocked large parts of America and changed the situation, especially with regard to Israel. How powerful is the Israel lobby? How much money did politicians such as Ted Cruz receive from Zionist or Israeli sources? Is Israel a friend of the US, or is the US merely a means to an end for Israel? These debates are currently intensifying in the US.

This is not the first time that Israel’s role has been questioned:

  • False flag attacks by Israel are nothing new historically.
  • The fact that the US is not immune to this is demonstrated by the case of the USS Liberty, which was also the subject of Candace Owens’ widely viewed channel.
  • The question of the Kennedy assassination and possible Zionist involvement: Kennedy had spoken out against Israel’s nuclear armament.
  • 9/11: Dancing Israelis in the streets, who turn out to be agents and are allowed to leave the country unmolested after a few months.
  • The series on 9/11 — the big taboo topic even in the land of almost unlimited freedom of speech — could go on and on: the World Trade Towers’ security staff was made up of former CIA and Mossad agents, the building was insured against terrorism shortly before the attacks, and a large insurance payout was made. The US war on terror was ultimately, and unmistakably, a war against Israel’s enemies — from Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc. to now: Iran.
  • After the attack on the WTC, Benjamin Netanyahu said it was “good for Israel.”

From Epstein to Gaza

The Epstein case fueled further criticism. Was Epstein an agent of Mossad? Was the ultimate goal for Epstein to generate compromising material on powerful and wealthy people in the US in order to make them compliant? In the Epstein case, Israel and the Israeli government are at the center of a discussion about a conspiracy of enormous proportions. If he was not an agent of Israel, why was he so important that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak visited him 30 times?

Then there were the attacks on Israel on October 7 and the completely disproportionate response that has been ongoing ever since. Gaza has been ethnically cleansed ever since. The announced genocide has been followed by the actual one. The big question of the extent to which Netanyahu helped Hamas grow in power remains unanswered, as does the question of how it was possible for the most heavily guarded border in the world to be left open to attack for seven hours.

It is striking that all these taboo topics, which are virtually contaminated territory as subjects of debate, have a connection to Israel and are threatened with becoming a discursive no-go area as “anti-Semitic conspiracy theories,” a minefield where there is nothing to gain but everything to lose.

In the case of Gaza, this undertaking — although common and classic in all genocides — is particularly shameful in the case of Israel. The cover-up, including of the Holocaust, through denial, relabeling, and elimination of all who stood in the way, is well documented from the Nazi era. In the case of Gaza, experts and genocide researchers were already talking in 2023 about a “textbook case of genocide,” in which the intention to commit genocide was expressed often enough by official bodies and ultimately confirmed by numerous documented war crimes.

Netanyahu in a fight for survival

In this case, it is not about Jews, it is not even about Israel anymore. It is primarily about Benjamin Netanyahu. For him, everything is at stake right now. Corruption allegations and massive protests on the one hand, ethnic cleansing of Gaza on the other, accusations of genocide that isolate him on the world stage, and a desperate attempt to save himself by rushing forward — both rhetorically and militarily.

For Bibi to survive politically, Gaza must perish. To paraphrase Cato: “Ceterum censeo, Gazam esse delendam.” The final solution to the Gaza question is the last reserve tank of Netanyahu’s political career. The world is watching a narcissistic gambler who, with ever higher stakes that ultimately affect the lives of others, is trying to save his political career. The battle for Israel’s image, the battle for the images, has become the most important battle of the present.

The setting in the media war is clear. Israel’s PR budget has just been inflated by $150 million. Influencers are invited on trips, like Western intellectuals to Russia during Stalinism. Advertisements are placed. Israel must particularly ramp up its efforts here, because a phalanx of criticism and critics is forming that has not been there before — from well-known critics such as Chris Hedges and Max Blumenthal to Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson, Jeffrey Sachs, John Mearsheimer, Joe Rogan, and most recently Kirk. In the US, support for Israel is now also crumbling in the traditionally Republican, quasi judeo-christian support center. Only a quarter of Republican youth still approve of Israel’s course in Gaza.

Charlie Kirk as a turning point

Charlie Kirk was a key figure in this situation, like no other. He rallied young people for Trump. He was the greatest recruiter among America’s youth. He built an organization with over 3,000 local offices. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats had ever achieved this before. Charlie Kirk brought a new type of influencer to the political stage: an inspiring speaker who managed to fill halls, address problems directly, and act as an advocate for a neglected youth.

Kirk has said many kind things about Israel; portraying him as antisemitic therefore does not hold water. Rather, he underwent something of a spiritual transformation, an awakening.

Since his death, it has become apparent to every observer how exaggeratedly Charlie Kirk has been rhetorically appropriated in order to ultimately preserve him as a friend and martyr for their own cause. True to the motto: We will not let our former friends be taken away from us, even if they later turned against us.

Netanyahu has twice publicly denied any involvement in Charlie Kirk’s death. At this point, it doesn’t matter whether there is evidence to support this accusation or not. The mere fact that this discussion is flaring up in America is already a PR disaster that a few influencers on a tour of Israel with nice pictures and polished text modules will not be able to make up for.

After his change of heart on the Israel issue, Kirk faced massive backlash from supporters, financiers, and others. After a heated confrontation in the Hamptons, he felt blackmailed and pressured. He apparently declined a trip to Israel that so many influencers before him had taken.

Charlie Kirk was apparently useful to his financiers as long as he played by the playbook. In WhatsApp groups and Zoom calls, pro-Zionist financiers discussed text modules, and on his show, a rabbi was allowed to explain why the reports of hunger in Gaza were a “lie.”

The break came when Kirk took free speech really seriously. He opened up the Israel-Gaza question for debate, inviting both sides of the argument. Was that too much? Too much pluralism, too much unpredictability? From then on, there was a barrage of calls, pressure, and withdrawal of investments.

It was probably never just about Kirk. In the PR war, the prey is always decisive: conservative youth, Christian pro-Israel supporters, who are far more numerous than Jewish supporters. Whoever captures this target group wins geopolitical capital. Bibi’s continued course of war depends not only on the home front, but also significantly on the support of the US. Kirk, however, suddenly proved to be an asset with a shaky connection.

With Kirk out of the picture, the Oracle CEO is taking up more and more space in the media: Larry Ellison. Ellison is the richest man in the world, the largest private donor to the Israeli military IDF, and in the process of building a media empire. Will military influence soon be coming as entertainment feed? The US military is already considering converting the campus centers built by Kirk into recruitment bases: “Charlie has awakened a generation of warriors.”

With or without Charlie: both media power and infrastructure are in place in the US to make American youth fit for war.

Now all that’s missing is a reason for war.
